Budgidity (“Budgidity,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a free take-home pay calculator and budgeting tool operated by an individual based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. This policy explains what is — and isn’t — collected when you visit budgidity.com (the “Site”) and use its tools, and the choices you have. We’ve kept it short and plain. By using the Site, you agree to this policy.

1 Information you enter into the tools

The take-home pay calculator and the 50/30/20 budget builder run entirely in your web browser. Your salary or hourly rate, state, filing status, deductions, and budget amounts are processed on your device to show your results. So the tools are there when you come back, your most recent entries may be stored in your browser’s local storage. This information stays on your device — it is not transmitted to Budgidity, and we never see it. You can remove it any time by clearing your browser’s site data for budgidity.com.

2 Information collected automatically

As on most websites, some technical information is collected automatically when you visit:

Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics to understand things like how many people visit, which pages are useful, and how visitors generally find the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and may collect your IP address (which Google may shorten or anonymize), device and browser type, operating system, the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, approximate (typically city-level) location, and the site or search that referred you. This is used in aggregate to improve the Site, not to identify you. Google processes this data on our behalf — see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s browser add-on.

Server logs

Our web host may automatically record standard log data (such as IP address, browser type, and access times) for security, troubleshooting, and reliable operation of the Site.

3 Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file your browser stores. The Site uses analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (described above) and functional cookies that may be set by our website platform (WordPress) to keep the Site working. We do not use advertising cookies. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings and use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above; blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. There is no industry-standard response to “Do Not Track” browser signals yet, but you can still opt out using the methods described here.

4 If you email us

If you contact us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use that only to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence. We won’t add you to any marketing list.

5 No ads, no selling your data

Budgidity shows no advertising, uses no affiliate links, and does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share analytics data with advertisers.

6 How information is used

The limited information above is used only to operate, maintain, and secure the Site; to understand overall usage so we can improve the tools; and to respond to messages you send us.

7 Sharing

We don’t sell or rent personal information. Limited information may be processed by trusted providers that help run the Site — currently Google (analytics) and our web hosting provider — and only for those purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a transfer of the Site (for example, if Budgidity is acquired).

8 Data retention and security

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ settings and Google’s policies. Information you enter into the tools lives only in your browser until you clear it. We use reasonable measures to protect the Site, but no website or internet transmission is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

9 Your privacy rights

Because we don’t collect personal information through accounts, most of what’s collected is aggregate analytics data. Depending on where you live, you may still have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of personal information, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing.”

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising), and we don’t use analytics for advertising. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Other U.S. states and international visitors

If your state or country has its own privacy laws, you may have similar rights — contact us and we’ll do our best to honor applicable requests. The Site is operated from the United States, and by using it you understand your information may be processed in the U.S.

10 Children’s privacy

Budgidity isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we’ll address it.

11 Links to other sites

The Site may link to third-party sites (for example, the IRS or your state’s revenue department). We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices — please review their policies.

12 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and note significant changes on this page. Please check back periodically.
